The Fast of the Lord

“Rather is not this the fast that I (the LORD) have chosen: to loose the bonds of  wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every enslaving yoke?

Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house–when you see the naked, that you cover him, and that you hide not yourself from the needs of your own flesh and blood?

Then shall your light break forth like the morning, and your healing (your restoration and the power of a new life) shall spring forth speedily; your righteousness shall go before you [conducting you to peace and prosperity], and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.” (Isaiah 58:6-8)

Fasting is one of the most powerful things a person can do spiritually.  It has so much impact in the spirit realm!  But fasting is not a mechanical act of not eating.  It is meal replacement with prayer–focused prayer.

It is the place where breakthroughs happen in our lives.  What does fasting do?  It loosens the bonds of wickedness that bind us and keep us from a more intimate relationship with God.  The bands of the yoke are undone by fasting.  What is a yoke?  It’s a device that keeps oxen bound together to where they must move on the set path.  Jesus has a yoke for us but He promises that it is easy to bear!  Satan’s yokes are heavy and hard to bear.

Fasting is the place of intercession for the oppression of others.  Fasting with prayer is a one-two punch to the enemy.  Captives are set free in this place.  Fasting breaks through our selfishness.  Every human being has a tendency to think only of themselves and their little world..I know I’m guilty of it!  Fasting helps break down this ugly trait and allow God to love people through us!

When we break through, then the light of Heaven’s blessings begins to flow into our lives.  Don’t shy away from fasting.  It is the place of breakthroughs..

Blessings everyone…
